Blogs & Such

Here are blogs I write and blogs I like to read.

Blogs
(Crafting, Spiritual, DIY, Photography, Hair etc etc. I read a variety of blogs. Hope you enjoy them too.)

Life in Light: Is my photography blog. I am not a professional photographer by any means! I am very fond of photography. One of my favorite past times is browsing interesting photographs. I like to look at facial expressions, what's going on the background of photos, the vivid color or the mysterious dramatics of black and white photos. Photos single out the beautiful form in a single object in which invoke various moods. It's amazing. I found a love for photography while I was obtaining my BFA at UMSL. I took a few photography classes and thoroughly enjoyed it. My favorite class was a Photo in Society class. It opened my eyes to how much photography has changed the world. So much can be said in a photo, and so much can be changed. I began to take my own photos soon after. I hope you will take a look at my photo blog and enjoy. If you visit please do leave me a comment or two!

A Journey To Sunshine :
Could you imagine living every day knowing that society considers something about you strange, bad or negative? Can you imagine hiding your natural looks to fit? Could you imagine hiding a part of who God made you due to various reasons? That is what I did for more than 20 years. It wasn't anything drastically different. I hid my own hair texture because I felt it wasn't proper to have kinky curly hair. I thought it was ugly and looked unkept. It was nappy in a negative way. "I need a perm!" came out of my mouth about every six weeks as my natural hair texture grew out.

Some may feel that going natural is a hair trend, some may feel it's ugly, embarrassing or flat out rebelious. Those are lies society has told to us about our natural kinky curly hair. Even some of our own fellow brown people have discouraged wearing natural hair. Historically kinky curly hair has been rejected by it's owners and onlookers. Advertisements of the past have insulted kinky curly hair and claimed that relaxing kinky hair can improve your life. People did it in the past to look more European. The less you looked like a slave the better life could be for you. Even present day hair ads for relaxers and wigs continue to allude to straight hair provides life improvements. The present day reason is "it's easier to care for." Yes easy, regardless of hair loss and skin damage? I myself have had relaxed hair since childhood. I felt it was easier and prettier for years. After 20+ years of chemically processing my hair, I've taken a step out to appreciate what God has given me. My kinky curly hair is not a statement, it's not bad, and I'm not being rebellious. I don't see my kinky curlies as something to be hidden or chemically straightened.
So take a lighthearted visit to my blog titled A Journey To Sunshine to see the path I've taken and where I'm going with this adventure.

Living with Purpose - My sister's blog. She writes, she's lovely, she's wonderful and so talented. She writes what's one her heart.

Well Watered Woman -  Well Watered Woman began as a blog about one woman’s journey with God and the lessons she’s learning along the way. As Tony blogged about her life and walk with the Lord, she found other women relating to her posts and being strengthened in their journeys with the King. As more women stumbled upon the Well it became an oasis. A refuge and resting place where women came to be encouraged renewed and refreshed in their walks with the lord. As a result Well WateredWoman has grown into a dynamic international ministry touching and impacted the lives of women globally.

Run Cook Craft - Very neat blog written by 3 sisters that live in 3 different places. They have 3 different hobbies and interests which are crafting, cooking, and exercising. In an effort to learn from each other they created Better Together: A place where together they can inspire each other to try new things in hopes that they can be a little better everyday! What a neat idea and great example of sister togetherness! I love the idea!

The Lady of the House - Wonderful blog on spiritual life, wisdom, home, life and family. (snippet from the blog) Through skillful and godly Wisdom is a house (a life, a home, a family) built, and by understanding it is established [on a sound and good foundation]. And by knowledge shall its chambers [of every area] be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. Proverbs 24:3-4 AMP

Love Abounds At Home - This blog contains things that are near and dear to my friend's heart. Her passion is to be a woman living out Proverbs 31 & Titus 2. She is a mother and a wife creating a sacred refuge for her family to reside. Home is where her heart is and where love abounds.

So You Think You're Crafty - SYTYC is a head-to-head crafting competition. Every 10 weeks a new group of crafters is selected.  Each week the crafters are given a theme and YOU vote for your favorite.  The winner makes a free tutorial and the loser gets ‘sent home.’  And just for good measure, she’ll throw in some of her own craftiness and tips for you from time to time, too.
