DIY Recipes

Here are some DIY Homemade Recipes that I have tried and I've wanted to try. My comments about the ones I've tried are underneath the recipe in purple.

Homemade Cleaners

White Silk Purse Laundry Soap
makes 4 quarts {one gallon} of concentrate 256 loads of laundry!

2 bars Fels Naptha
2 cups 20 Mule Team Borax
2 cups Arm & Hammer Washing Soda
6 cups of hot water (+ more water as needed)

*I just made this last week (May 2012) and so far so good! It cleans well. The only thing is it's a little messy to make but it's simple. My soap didn't melt like I wanted it to but that is because I didn't slowly mix it in a little at a time. Silly me but it turned out well!

 Miracle Cleaner:

1 part Dawn Dishwashing Liquid (the original blue kind)
2 parts Hydrogen Peroxide
Mix together and pour directly on the stain.
This site had a larger version of it with photos
* I made this and it worked! I had a stain on a white skirt and it got it out! I used 1/2 cup of the store brand version of Dawn (I'm cheap when trying stuff like this out) and 1 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide

How to Make Your Own Homemade (DIY) ‘Pergo' Laminate Flooring Cleaner
To a measuring cup or jar, add the following:
Click here for instructions on mixing this
1 part Water
1 part White Vinegar
1 part 2% Isopropyl Alcohol
Few drops of liquid dish detergent
Mix all ingredients together and pour into a fine mist spray bottle.
This site has some great before and after photos!
* I tried this. I'm not fully impressed by it. Maybe I didn't mix it correctly. I only had the Isopropyl Alcohol that is found in the stores. It's 70% not 2%. One big thing is we have regular hardwood floors not Pergo. So I guess my comment/review is invalid. So if anyone else would like to try it after go for it. After seeing the before and after photos I  wanted to try it.

How to Make your own Natural Spider Repellent.
Spider Be Gone Recipe Spray
Click here for the instructions on mixing this

You will need:
An empty spray bottle
Orange essential oil, or lemon, lime, or citronella
Water
* I want to try this! Seems so simple! We can't stand spiders so this is on the top of the list to try.
